Buildings are built for equity
By Lee Roberts
TIAA Executive Director
When a person pays a carpenter to construct a building, he or she doesn’t plan to allow the property to delapidate or to deteriorate.
Owners continue to reinvest and maintain the condition of buildings to protect their investment over time and build equity in the property.
The same is true for the Texas Independent Automotive Association. It’s been 28 years since the founding members laid the foundation of TIAA. Many conscientious members have reinvested their time and initiative so the association would be strong and viable. Members have benefited and joined others in the automotive industry to address common goals and interests.
Recently, TIAA members have expressed interest in improved benefits and services, which is an indicator that TIAA must work with renewed vigor to meet the needs of its members.
TIAA leadership is focusing on improvement. We are building useful structures that provide value back because our members deserve to benefit from a two-way relationship with an association that addresses their ever-changing needs.
I would urge each of you to get motivated and help to improve and grow TIAA. Share your ideas on how the association can improve. If you don’t like something, say so. Let’s take one step at a time, fix what’s broken, and build effective processes and relationships. Then, I encourage you to share benefits of membership with other shops and related automotive businesses. The time is NOW to move forward, reinvest and promote TIAA because we can’t afford anything less than to build substantial equity in the future of TIAA.
